Construction Update and Tentative Upcoming Dates
Sycamore Families:
I hope this email finds you enjoying the last few days of summer! I have been hesitant to send out a mass communication outlining beginning of the year events, as we are still very much under construction. Although the inside of our building is moving right along, there is still a lot of work that needs to be complete. To date, we have only been able to give the green light to approximately 12 teachers to prepare their rooms. As you can imagine, they are really getting anxious as we get closer to the first student day which is Thursday, July 29.
In addition to construction, we are facing challenges with technology. We are having updates done that drastically effect PowerSchool and ParentSquare. The updates should be complete by the evening of Tuesday, July 20. When I send this communication, I will not have any way of ensuring it is reaching all of our school community. If possible, please comment so I can gauge how many of our families actually receive this.
I will check comments and try to reply once a day this week. Last year, I conducted virtual town hall meetings for parents to ask questions prior to the first day. If this is something that you would be interested in me holding again this year, please comment "yes".
Please note these upcoming events:
Open House | July 28 | 2:00 - 3:30 pm
This event is for parents and children who are enrolled at Sycamore only. Families will be given school and transportation information, the name of your child(ren) teacher, and will be able to come enter the building to drop off school supplies in classrooms. Teachers will be in their classrooms to introduce themselves. Families are welcome to drop by anytime between 2:00 - 3:20 pm. This event will conclude at 3:30 pm.
Kindergarten Meet the Teacher Night | July 28 | 5:30 - 6:30 pm
This is for parents or legal guardians only of Sycamore children. We will welcome up to 2 parents per child for this night. During this time, parents will receive schedules, curriculum, and specific classroom information. Parents will also work with the teacher on selecting the best method to communicate throughout the year. Parents will be able to ask specific questions during this time, too!
Although we have a lot of work to get done in a short amount of time, we are ALL READY to welcome our children and families back to school! I'm so excited to see the kids again!
